Several interesting events are scheduled for the upcoming weeks at the Medical Center.

Pastoral director to discuss compassion in three parts

Compassion Series logoDoris Whitaker, UMMC pastoral services director, will deliver a three-part UMMC Everyday Wellness series on compassion on successive Mondays in June.

She will present "Compassion for Me, Compassion for You" from 11 a.m.-noon on Monday, June 17 in classroom 4A and "Compassion in Health Care" from 11 a.m.-noon on Monday, June 24 in classroom 6A.

Vanderbilt faculty to propose renal cell carcinoma makeovers

Dr. W. Kimryn Rathmell, Cornelius Abernathy Craig Professor, professor of medicine and director of the Division of Hematology and Oncology at Vanderbilt University, will give the UMMC Cancer Center and Research Institute Grand Rounds presentation, “Remodeling and Makeovers in Renal Cell Carcinoma,” at noon on Monday, June 17, in room CW106 in the Classroom Wing.

Kentucky anesthesiology chair to talk educational LEADERship

Dr. Robert Gaiser, professor and chair of anesthesiology at the University of Kentucky, member of the ACGME Board of Directors and director of the American Board of Anesthesiology,will give the UMMC Department of Anesthesiology Grand Round presentation, You Can't Have a Powerful Educator Without LEADER," from 6:30-7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, in room LH122 of the medical education building.

IHL to host UM chancellor 'listening sessions' June 19

MS Public Universities

Members of the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning will host three "Listening Sessions" on the qualities and qualifications stakeholders believe the next University of Mississippi chancellor should possess from 2-5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, in classroom R153 (lower amphitheatre).

The student listening session will take place from 2-2:45 p.m.; the faculty and staff listening session will take place from 3-3:45 p.m.; and the alumni listening session will take place from 4-5 p.m.

Ceremony to honor UMMC retirees with 25 years of service

Lit candle with title of Service of Remembrance

The Medical Center will host a ceremony to honor its retiring faculty and staff who have 25 or more consecutive years of service to the institution at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 28, in the student union second-floor conference center. A reception will follow the ceremony.

Faith Seeking Understanding group to discuss pluralism

​​Russell Roberts, a first-year radiation oncology resident, will give the UMMC Faith Seeking Understanding Interest Group presentation, "Can All Religions Be True?" from noon-1 p.m. on Friday, June 28, in room CW308 of the Classroom Wing.
